Community & School Safety

Community and School Safety is a critical topic for the Essex Police Department. The Essex Police Department has been a leader and innovator in School Safety in Vermont since 1996 when the first School Public Safety Committee was formed in Essex, Vermont to study and enhance school safety.

Safety Dialogue Night

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 local residents attended a dialogue night addressing safety topics in our communities. The event was hosted by the School Public Safety Committee. The purpose of this event was to bring awareness to current safety endeavors and discuss ways to support and advance safety throughout our communities of Essex Junction and Essex Town.

During this event participants submitted questions in writing pertaining to a wide range of topics. Not all questions could be answered that evening. Unanswered questions have been consolidated and answers have been submitted from respective agencies.
